Where notification alerts come from@notify controls delivery after a source generates an alert. A source
may need its own subscription or opt-in first. Turning a kind on does
not create subscriptions, RSVP to events, or link an external account.

Pages and directed speech
page <player> <message> sends a page; the recipient's page alert kind
and delivery preferences determine any additional alert.
Directed speech through the stage-talk feature can produce direct_say.
The recipient needs +notify_me when connected and idle, or +offline_page
when offline, using @player-options. These also enable ntfy availability.
The optional @ntfy feature retains a legacy direct-alert command:

Channels
@channels shows the communication channels. See help talking for chat.
@notify channel <name> on enables offline alerts for a channel you
already listen to; @notify channel <name> off removes that opt-in.
@notify off channel disables the kind across all opted-in channels.
Connected channel listeners receive ordinary channel output instead.
Calendar reminders
@add-feature #9421 installs the Events Calendar feature if needed.
@events (or @ev) lists upcoming events; @events all includes past events.
@events <search> searches events.
@events join opens a menu to RSVP and receive reminders.
@events leave opens a menu to remove your RSVP.
@events add (or +), edit, and remove (or -) manage calendar entries.
@notify off event suppresses routed reminders while keeping your RSVPs.
Public event announcements on the events channel have separate delivery.
Bluesky
@bluesky shows whether you have linked an account.
@bluesky link <handle> links it, asking separately for an app password.
Use a Bluesky app password, entered only at the prompt.
@bluesky unlink deletes the MOO's linked session.
Only new mentions, replies and follows are alerted. The first poll after
linking establishes the starting point without replaying old activity.
An expired link needs @bluesky link again.
@notify off bluesky suppresses delivery while keeping the link.
Federated social activity
@add-feature #9624 installs the Federated Social Feature if needed.
@fedi shows its current identity, followees and notification preference.
@fedi notify on or @fedi notify off enables or disables its routed alerts.
@notify off fedi suppresses the routed kind at the shared delivery layer.
@fedi follow <handle-or-actor-URL> and @fedi unfollow <handle-or-actor-URL>
manage followed actors. @fedi mute and @fedi unmute take the same actor
specification; these are external-actor controls, separate from
@notify mute <MOO-player>.
@fedi tabs on or @fedi tabs off controls the feature's local activity tab.
With notifications off, an enabled tab can still show local activity.
News and mail
The news alert kind carries updates for existing news feed subscribers.
The ordinary news command reads MOO news articles; it does not configure
those feed alerts. Use @notify off news to suppress the routed kind.
Adding or removing a feed on the news-feed object is staff-only.
Mail has its own connected-player notices, mail forwarding, and list
subscriptions. @add-notify me to <player> requests permission to hear
when they get mail; @add-notify <player> to me accepts their request.
These notices are separate from the router's registered alert kinds.
